The Heart of Maryland Chorus was invited to the “Buckeye” in 1996 after placing 3rd in an annual Mid-Atlantic District Contest. While most members and guests boarded a chartered bus to begin the long weekend, we chose to follow along in our camper! Since we camped often with Erica, it was much easier to follow an established routine.
The Buckeye Invitational was an annual barbershop festival and competition hosted by the Singing Buckeyes of Columbus, Ohio each August. Open to men and women, its goal was to provide a venue where choruses and quartets which placed 3rd in their respective contests (short of qualifying for International) could meet and still enjoy what an International competition might feel like!

Erica enjoyed Barbershop harmony!

I believe the above photos are school pics from 1995-1996. The camping trip to Columbus, OH was in August of 1996.

In 1995, my chorus came in 3rd place in the Mid-Atlantic District contest in Ocean City, MD. We earned an invitation to the Buckeye! What an honor.
